Ultrasound

Ultrasound imaging is a safe, non-invasive diagnostic procedure that uses high-frequency sound waves to create images of structures within the body. This technique is commonly used to examine organs, tissues, and blood flow in real-time. At BR Radiology Group, our skilled sonographers perform various types of ultrasound scans, including general, musculoskeletal, obstetric, breast, cardiac, and vascular imaging, ensuring a comprehensive range of services for our patients.

FAQs

Yes, appointments are necessary for all ultrasound exams. Please contact our team by phone, visit one of our clinics in person, or submit your referral, and we will schedule your next available appointment.

Preparation depends on the type of ultrasound being performed. Some scans, such as abdominal ultrasounds, may require fasting, while others, such as pelvic ultrasounds, may require a full bladder. Specific preparation instructions will be provided at the time of booking. We also recommend wearing a comfortable two-piece outfit for convenience and arriving 15 minutes early to complete any necessary paperwork.

To ensure a smooth process, please bring:

  • Your referral form from a healthcare provider.
  • A valid Medicare or DVA card.

A qualified sonographer will guide you to the examination room, explain the procedure, and help you prepare. A clear gel is applied to the skin to ensure proper contact between the transducer and your body. The transducer is gently moved over the area being examined, producing images on a monitor in real-time. Once the scan is complete, the results will be reviewed by a radiologist who will prepare a detailed report for your doctor.

Reports are typically completed within 24 to 48 hours. If your doctor has requested urgent results, please inform our staff at the time of your appointment. We will prioritise your scan and coordinate with the radiologist to ensure a timely report.

Please allow 24 to 48 hours for your report. If you have been instructed to return to your healthcare professional immediately following the scan, it is important to advise one of our staff members. If your exam is clinically urgent, this will be prioritised, and our team will communicate with our Radiologist to ensure a prompt report is provided.
