3D/4D Obstetric Ultrasound

WHAT IS A 3D ULTRASOUND?

Ultrasound uses high frequency sound waves to visualise structures within the body.

A 3D scan is different from the standard 2D scanning mode as waves are bounced through in angles; the returning echoes are processed by a very sophisticated computer that reconstructs those images in to the 3D pictures you will see on the screen.

3D images allow you a clearer view of your baby, and features such as eyes, mouth, fingers and toes can be easily identified.

On the screen you will also be able to see your baby moving in real time (4D) perhaps catching a smile, yawn, stretch or even sucking their thumb.

WHEN CAN I HAVE THIS SCAN?

The optimum time for a 3D scan is between the 28th and 32nd week of pregnancy. There are many variables that influence the image quality on the day.

WHAT ABOUT MULTIPLE PREGNANCIES?

Multiple pregnancies are welcome. Please allow an extra 10 minutes for your scan and advise us at your time of booking. Please note that it is not usually possible to see both babies in the same image.

IS THIS A DIAGNOSTIC SCAN?

The 3D non-diagnostic scan in no way replaces any treatment or scans ordered by your Doctor. If any anomaly is noted on the scan during the study we would of course notify your Doctor.

DO I NEED A FULL BLADDER?

Unlike a diagnostic scan it is not necessary to have a full bladder.

CAN I CLAIM ON MEDICARE OR PRIVATE HEALTH?

As this is not a diagnostic scan you are unable to claim back on Medicare or any Private Health cover you may have.

Single Babies: $150 | Multiple Babies: $170

CAN I GET A GIFT CERTIFICATE FOR SOMEONE?
